Bingo Shelly, he's drying his wings! Apparently their feathers are not waterproof and they get waterlogged when they dive underwater. See....not just a pretty face..ha! :)
Thea do you actually know the names of the bird species you see, or do you go home and Google? :) I swear (pun) there is a "F U!" bird in our yard. That's what it sounds like he's saying, anyway! Honey something or other.
I know a lot more about birds than I ever did before after I started snapping them. This one is called an Australian Darter. Would love to know what the FU bird is...too funny!
We counted about 12 different species the last time we visited the duckpond. Fab isn't it!
